About the SAT

The Smartphone-based Analysis Assessment Tool (SAT) is a structured, 100-point rubric for objectively evaluating analytical methods that rely on smartphone imaging. It converts qualitative judgements into a transparent, comparable score.

The four scoring categories

  • Imaging Standardization (30 pts) — imaging box, white balance, imaging distance, lighting conditions and region selection.
  • Analytical Performance (40 pts) — LOD, LOQ, recovery, precision (RSD%), linearity (R²) and statistical comparison with a reference method.
  • Practical Applicability (20 pts) — sample size, analysis time, cost and real-sample application.
  • Accessibility (10 pts) — availability of the analysis software.

How the grade is assigned

  • 85 – 100: Excellent
  • 70 – 84: Good
  • 50 – 69: Acceptable
  • Below 50: Poor

How to use it

Open the assessment, select the option that best describes the method for each parameter, and submit. SAT instantly computes the category subtotals, the overall score and the corresponding performance band, which you can print or save as a PDF.
